when kellerkind published his first tracks on sirion records in 2008, nobody ever considered the success story of marco biagini s alter ego. eight years later he looks back on numerous releases, among others on stil vor talent, flash, katermukke or hive audio. his record debut on sirion in 2012 another breakthrough, with special mention required for the title song “disco on the dancefloor”. it’s with this song that kellerkind has definitely won the hearts of his audience and thus left a lasting aftertaste which continues until today. his fourth ep on sirion with the promising title “way out” builds up on the 2010 published “altro mondo ep”. three reduced techhouse tracks promising pure dancefloor feeling with finely assorted forward directional sound elements and smooth deepness. the slightly hypnotic vocal smasher in christian nielsen remix carries nicely with the three tracks in every way and completes the catalog number 42 elegantly.

the highly anticipated follow up to their 2013 dream of the walled city (ost) lp, samo dj and max stenerudh return with another far out record complete with backstory. originally composed as an accompanying piece for artist thomas jeppe s exhibition in tehran, iran the music contained on this release was originally pressed on extremely limited cdr s given out for free at the exhibition. as it stands it would have been a crime to keep this music in the private sector, thus now we see an official release in long playing format here on l.i.e.s. dream-like, full of drama, suspense and full of cinematic overtones, once again the duo of samo and max deliver beyond the full scope of psychedelic soundtrack madness.

otake 007 is the debut from the born new polish project id ensemble. the release is called hollow ep and is authored by filip kaczmarek, self taught musician with technological attention to detail. it is one of few projects which filip runs in parallel although this one is heavily influenced by berlin sound exports. it was created as an expression of the need to break from the pattern, escape from the trademark. there are four tracks on the ep which are inspired by some detroit and berlin sounds, thus still having some special polish touch.

two years ago i played at studio 9 in vilnius, lithuania. the following day i missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend linus, who took me to the contemporary art centre. it was there i spotted a book named ‘rojus’, that linus told me translated as ‘paradise’. the word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. a few days after returning home, i turned on to a national geographic documentary named ‘designed to dance’, explaining the courtship rituals of birds of paradise. as i watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds’ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. this gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these birds of paradise and their habitat. thus, rojus. leon vynehall 2016

its not often you hear a techno record produced by a total of five people. when it happens, it’s usually to mark a passage and make a statement. sometimes it is a matter of celebrating a rita of passage, a shift into maturity and the embodiment of a new skin. this is what repitch is doing with the fourth and final installment in their “features” series, reuniting all the crew for the the final blast of what’s been a long and massive barrage of heavy techno. this is the collaboration to end them all: repitch founders ascion, d. carbone and shapenoise have shared the studio with longtime allies and. together, they explore a common ground made of pounding metallic percussions, gutwrenching bass and thick, furious grooves, with each producer bringing his own peculiar contributions to the table. this last installment marks the end of a process that accompanied repitch throughout its whole existence, thus enhancing the beginning of a new chapter in the label’s creative output.

cromby is an exciting addition to the london house music scene: originally hailing from belfast he has made camp in the british capital and brought his mpc 2000 xl with him. the young man who has grown up listening to chez damier and moodymann makes use of the japanese sampler from akai in a highly fresh and creative way combining raw drums with sweet and melancholic pads and chords. on his * planets and parks ep* cromby displays a very nice balance between a traditional deep house understanding and a forward thinking attitude and is thus just perfect for tenderparks’s idea of musicality. as far as the artwork of the record is concerned the beautiful black and white image is the last part of tenderparks current series concieved by art director till sperrle and photographer magdalena bichler. and as you ve come to expect from tenderpark all tracks have been mastered and cut by helmut erler at dubplates & mastering once more.

after starting up the infamous invites choice podcast series in 2011, tim van paradijs (a.k.a. invite) notes that the time feels right to contribute to the techno scene in a totally different way. the long cherished wish of starting up a recordlabel under the invite moniker and thus propagating his view on electronic music is now to be fulfilled.

after numerous remixes, collabs and b2b sets, producers hey joe and josia loos are finally putting their collaborative efforts on wax. english for world of shards, scherbenwelt starts with resonating ambient tones leading into vast depths of an illusionary ambience, abruptly and unexpectedly obliterated by a rapid and thumping beat- it s a tough and unforgiving world the duo reveals through this track. pulling the curtains even further back, lohnarbeit, which translates to wage labour, reveals hard truths and makes no compromises. as the deep and unsettling voice declares, social existence comes at a price: labour. work, and you ll exist. tough words, appropriately reinterpreted through hard sounds. momentous techno, literally driven by the crack of a whip. ryan davis gracefully smoothes scherbenwelt s sharp edges, re-concealing these hard truths behind curtains of smooth melody, thus letting us float back into a daze of daydreams, and illusion.

with iyewaye, the first solo-ep after the release of his fifth album i am ok last year, oliver koletzki shows himself in a new, but not altogether unfamiliar light: since his breakthrough in 2005 with der mückenschwarm koletzki hasnt sounded this hard. gone is the pop-angle, replaced by a dark sound-aesthetic and raw energy. but even here, in the techno realm, oliver koletzki demonstrates his inimitable sense for melody: thus, the gloomy and driving framework of iyewaye is lit up by a crystal-clear synth-sequence. similarly, ipuza, which hypnotizes by way of reduction and repetition, is funky in its core thanks to a rolling tribal groove. functional, but with heart and soul.

label honcho eduardo de la calle teams up with orbe for one of the most exciting asr releases thus far. repetitive, percussive and of course analog. two guys that know how to work machines on one of the most analog focussed labels around.

on -purposely uncertain field- lake people doesn t fall into the trap of repeating himself or recreating a successful formula. instead he puts all his musical knowledge and his experience into the eleven tracks of the album and expands his already rich sound universe. above his straighter dancefloor aspects martin elaborates his approaches to a certain mid 90 s electronica vibe and ambient-like soundscapes with a very cinematic feel to it. thus he brilliantly manages the difficult task of creating a transcendent and consistent album without losing any tension over the full length.

the extended project *inversion* follows his three track release *sleepwalkers* in 2013 and *timelines* in 2014. om unit was schooled via metalheadz. although he earned his stripes via hip hop as dj 2tall it was breakbeat-hardcore and jungle that shaped his attitude towards electronic music and the ferocious trail blazing of the metalheadz crew was an undoubted inspiration. thus it makes perfect sense that his take on this sound, his contribution to moving this sound forward comes via metalheadz. the sonic nature of the project is rooted in london, chicago and detroit- drums, subs and textures.

pulps darand land has become the labels very own stalwart. being involved in every single release thus far, a new project of a certain extend would be the next logical step. heaven electric is a mini album that s being released in two 12inch efforts. the first part comes as a 4-track release with 3 originals and a soul moving remix by no-one less than the respected edinburgh native linkwood. from the first seconds this sophomore part of the heaven electric album showcases the signature darand land style weve enjoyed so much on the previous pulp releases. beautiful chords, pads, and thriving basslines throughout. of course, the linkwood remix included in this wonderful package is not to be missed.

kerri chandler has always taken his music to the next level, hes always been original and pushed the limits throughout his illustrious twenty plus year career, thus giving him the title of a bonafide house legend. digging through the vaults of king street you will see kerris name pop up time and time again and this, the first of two samplers, is designed to celebrate the man and some of his classic contributions to the label.

up and coming portuguese producer lewis fautzi is quickly becoming a name to look out for in techno. championed by the likes of jeff mills and slam, fautzis hypnotic, tracky sound is much in demand. in may 2014 figure label founder len faki opened his boiler room berlin set with a new lewis fautzi production, the beatless intro vibes of >diagonal<, and thus a new ep was born on figure.

respected black dance music dj, jo wallace, was commissioned to create a bespoke track to accompany this summers must see exhibition return of the rudeboy by its creators, dean chalkley and harris elliott. in order to deliver the track in a limited vinyl format, jo had to create a label. thus, ramrock was born. paying homage to the glorious heyday of jamaican rocksteady, jo tailored the sound to fit the flavour of the exhibition - more argyle socks than on the rocks. gathering together the production skills of the legendary ashley beedle, the talents of musical supremo darren morris and the mighty mc doxman, jo oversaw the whole project in the studio even lending a hand on backing vocals and percussive teacup.gentleman rudeboy is a track that will continue to fill dancehalls for many years to come. welcome to the world of ramrock

disco bucuresti is an audio homage to romanias capital, bucharest. growing up between the citys communist blocks of flats and maturing in the citys underground discos left a distinct creative mark on andrei idu (the legendary 1979 orchestra). ever since leaving bucharest for amsterdam, andrei felt the need to tribute the place that shaped him. however, it was only until recently that he found the means necessary to express the feelings he felt. thus, records released during the 70s and 80s in romania as sole sample source, analog drum machines, delays, filters and reverbs, all recorded in live takes come together in this evocative ep.

as ljudverket is a heavily art-influenced label, the second release was made as a part of an sound installation for an exhibition in helsinki. rasmus hedlund & tuomo väänänens 2x12 inch album consists of 80 locked groove loops, 20 on each side. the installation itself holds 4 vinyl players, where every side of the records are represented as a sound source, from where the participators could themselves choose a random loop and thus create their own soundscapes. this is one for the collectors, and no more than 200 copies are being produced.

asan has been making music for some time. he is geographically the closest artist to lampuka records, yet lamp004 has taken us the longest to complete thus far. we had hoped this to be asans debut release but we were pipped to the post whilst he was on his travels. gladly though we have what we think is a superfluous release…and well worth the wait. no remixes here, just four solid bangers.

epi centrum is jurek przezdziecki, who you may be familiar with thanks to his numerous releases on labels like cocoon, affin and synewave. known for always pushing sonic boundaries, as well as seeking new sources of inspiration, he is undoubtedly one of those artists who does anything but tow the line. raw, organic electronics, mixed with precision in execution are at the very heart of jureks output and his work has thus far received praise from the likes of depeche mode, laurent garnier, sven väth and damon wild.

graze minerals possess a superlative lustre, which is most notably seen in diamond. such frequencies are transparent or translucent in nature, and have a high refractive index. tones with a true adamantine lustre are uncommon, with examples being cerussite and zircon. mweapon minerals display luminous bass bands, which appear to move as the specimen is rotated. such frequencies are composed of parallel fibers, which reflect sound into a direction perpendicular to their orientation, thus forming narrow bands of light. the most famous examples are fm and subtractive, but the effect may also occur in other sound banding - such aquamarine, moonstone and tourmaline. scrap minerals consist of thin transparent co-planar sheets. light reflecting from these layers give them a lustre reminiscent of pearls. such minerals possess perfect cleavage, with examples including muscovite and moss opal.

in recent times soul notes tilted a little towards more groove driven, distortion ladenmachine funk. snx001 is the missing release out of the snx series thus far. label head honcho kastil joins up with cologne based adryiano, who is quickly becoming one of the labels favorite household names. the signature snx sounds is developing into a dark psych-oriented club sound which this ep represents as never before. the opening track *snakes and holes* is pure percussive machinery with the heaviest overdriven kickdrums you will ever hear. on the a2, adryiano sets the mood with a low swinging bass and some eardrum deafening kicks which progresses into the b1 which is perced out to the max with some 303 bassline drama and distortion to top that off. for the b2 track, head honcho kastil shows off some lo-fi drum action on controversy.
